I didn't have high expectations for such a bargain-priced ironing board pad and cover, so was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.This cover is easily the nicest I've ever had, and came with a bonus feature not mentioned in the product description or photos (at this time anyway - May 2010). The well-constructed cover is made from a nice heavy-duty fabric, and there's a fine peach fuzz nap (the manufacturer calls it "nano-whiskers") that "hangs on" to smooth fabrics and keeps them from sliding off the board so easily - this is a NOTICEABLY BIG IMPROVEMENT over other types of coated covers.If you've ever had to hold down a silky blouse with one hand to keep it from falling off the board while reaching for the iron with the other hand, you'll know what I mean - the blouse isn't going anywhere on this cover.
I like that the pad itself is encased in the cover - not separate where it can slip and slide around while trying to maneuver the cover on.It FITS LIKE A GLOVE on my 54-inch board, and stays nicely in place with two adjustable Velcro® straps on the underside.The tailored nose pocket is substantial, extending 7-8 inches on the underside, and keeps everything tight as a drum up front where good fit is needed most.
THE BONUS is a sewn-on storage pocket to hold spray cans/bottles conveniently off the board, but right at hand.I often place these things at the bottom end of the board where they wobble or fall off.I've never seen anything like this before and, indeed, it's very handy.I'VE INCLUDED A PHOTO OF THIS NIFTY POCKET that's not otherwise mentioned or pictured on this product page.
I don't care that there are no other color/pattern options - my ironing board spends its life in a closet.I have nothing negative to say about the cover - I love it - but will mention that Amazon's product description (at this time) mistakenly calls the cover "reversible," and IS NOT.
